Indian Market: Sensex zooms 909.64 pts

Mumbai: The equity market ended strong on Friday, as the BSE sensex zoomed 909.64 pts to close breaching 60K level at 60,841.88 on the strength of Consumer Durable, Auto, BSE services and Financial Services stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) surged 243.65 pts at 17,854.05.

The sensex opened higher at 60,350.01, up 418 pts. During the day, it was edged up 973 pts at 60,905, days high, before closing at 60,841.88, advancing 909.64 pts from its previous close.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,870.30 and 17,584.20 respectively.

In sectoral indices, Consumer Durable was a major gainer, up 2.61 pc followed by Financial Services by 2.15 pc, BSE services by 1.64 pc and Auto by 1.24 pc.

In scrips, Titan was a star gainer, up by 6.94 pc to Rs 2464.90, Bajaj Finance by 5.09 pc to Rs 6008, Bajaj Finserv by 5.04 pc to Rs 1336, HDFC Bank by 3.54 pc to Rs 1660 and SBI by 3.22 pc to Rs 545.

The losers were Wipro by 0.51 pc to Rs 407, HCL Technology by 0.45 pc to Rs 1142.50 and Tech Mahindra by 0.22 pc to Rs 1014.

The Mid Cap fell by 0.04 pc and Small Cap by 0.47 pc.

In 30 scrips, 27 advanced while 3 declined.
