Mumbai/UNI: The Rupee on Wednesday heavily down by 63 paise to 72.09, nine-week-low on brisk demand for US Dollars by bankers and importers, dealers at the Forex Market said.

In opening trade, the domestic unit slipped by 25 paise to 71.71.

Till the end of the session, it dropped 63 paise to 72.09 as compared to its last close.

The local unit recorded day high and low at 72.07 and 71.65 respectively.

The Rupee lost ground owing to strong Dollar against other world currencies along with weak stock market, the dealer added.
