Kabul:  US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad has said America will keep on supporting the Afghanistan government to ensure the safety of the country.

Afghanistan is witnessing a return of violent days as foreign forces are leaving the nation and the Taliban capturing several regions in the war-torn nation.

"We will work vigorously with all Afghan parties and regional and international stakeholders to try and help the sides find a path to ending this war, one that ensures Afghanistan's security, unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and ends the agony of the Afghan people," Khalilzad tweeted earlier.

"America’s military engagement in Afghanistan is coming to an end. Our commitment to Afghanistan is not," he said.

New Quad Group:

Meanwhile,  representatives of the United States, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan agreed in principle to establish a new quadrilateral diplomatic platform focused on enhancing regional connectivity.

"The parties consider long-term peace and stability in Afghanistan critical to regional connectivity and agree that peace and regional connectivity are mutually reinforcing," read a statement issued by the US State Department/

"Recognizing the historic opportunity to open flourishing interregional trade routes, the parties intend to cooperate to expand trade, build transit links, and strengthen business-to-business ties.  The parties agreed to meet in the coming months to determine the modalities of this cooperation with mutual consensus," it said.
