A Hindu temple in Pakistan's Ahmadpur Sial has been desecrated and converted into a chicken shop, media reports said.

The Sita-Ram temple carried immense historical and cultural significance as it was built over a century ago and served as a place of worship for the Hindus in the region, reported News Intervention.

The incident has triggered online criticisms from netizens.

One X user named Narain Das Bheel said: "SitaRam #mandir Converted to Chicken shop, Ahmadpur Sial is a city in hang District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. The city is the headquarters of Ahmadpur Sial Tehsil."

Another used named Danish said: "#Pakistan SitaRam #Hindu Temple Converted Into Chicken Shop, Ahmadpur Sial Is A City In Hang District In The #Punjab Province Of Pakistan."

X user Komal posted: "The reported conversion of Sita Ram Mandir in Ahmadpur Sial, Pakistan, into a chicken shop is deeply distressing. This incident reflects a broader issue of plight of minorities in Pakistan, where not only their lives but also their places of worship are under attack!"

In November, Pakistani authorities demolished a revered Hindu temple in Sindh province.

According to reports, authorities cited a court order as the basis for the demolition of Hinglaj Mata Mandir.
