Vicky Kaushal's Uri collects Rs. 242.27 cr

Mumbai, Mar 11 (IBNS): Actor Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike has collected Rs. 242.27 crore at the Indian box office.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, "Nine weeks of meritorious run in today’s times is a rarity... #UriTheSurgicalStrike continues to attract footfalls, despite reduced screens/shows and multiple new films every week... [Week 9] Fri 17 lakhs, Sat 41 lakhs, Sun 50 lakhs. Total: ₹ 242.27 cr. India biz."

The movie, which released on Jan 11, is based on the surgical strike conducted by Indian Army on Sept 29, 2016.

The events goes back to Sept 18, 2016, when 19 soldiers were killed in an early morning attack by Pakistani terrorists.

The attack was carried out at the 12 Infantry Brigade headquarters in Uri.

On Sept 29, Indian Army's Special Forces conducted “surgical strikes” on terror launch pads across Line of Control (LoC), winning appreciations from countrymen.

Apart from Vicky, Uri stars Paresh Rawal and Yami Gautam in the lead roles.
