Salman Khan announces film Loveratri's new name as Loveyatri

Mumbai, Sept 19 (IBNS): Superstar Salman Khan produced upcoming Hindi film Loveratri has got a new name after a Hindu organisation objected to the movie's title.

Salman took to Twitter to announce the film's new name as Loveyatri.

He said in a tweet, "This is not a spelling mistake... #loveyatri #lovetakesover..."

Following the release of the film's trailer, Hindu organisation Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and some other citizens had demanded the change in the title as it hurts "Hindu sentiments".

Last week, Bihar's Muzzafarpur court had ordered a First Information Report (FIR) be filed against Salman and seven others for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments.

Similar incident occurred in late 2017 when Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial film Padmaavat also had to face wrath of fringe groups for allegedly portraying Rani Padmini in poor light.

The film's name, which was originally Padmavati starring actress Deepika Padukone in the lead role, was changed to Padmaavat after the controversy.

Loveyatri features Salman's brother-in-law Aayush Sharma alongside Warina Hussain in the lead roles.

Both the actors are making their debut with the film.

The film also marks the debut of director Abhiraj Minawala.

Loveyatri is slated to release on Oct 5.
