Apna Time Ayega: Ranveer Singh's Gully Boy is India's official entry for Oscars 2020

Mumbai, Sept 21 (IBNS): Actor Ranveer Singh's Gully Boy, which also featured actress Alia Bhatt in the lead role, has been named as India's official entry for the 92nd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the movie is centered around the life of young rapper Murad, played by Ranveer.

The movie, which released earlier this year, was inspired by the real-life stories of Mumbai rappers Divine and Naezy.

Gully Boy received positively by film critics and fans.

Producer of the film Farhan Akhtar tweeted: "#GullyBoy has been selected as India’s official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards. #apnatimeaayega Thank you to the film federation and congratulations #Zoya @kagtireema @ritesh_sid @RanveerOfficial @aliaa08 @SiddhantChturvD @kalkikanmani & cast, crew and hip hop crew."

The iconic  Academy Awards ceremony will take place on February 9, 2020 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, US.
