New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met visiting Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at Hyderabad House after she was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan in the national capital.

Sharing glimpses of the bilateral meeting on X, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote: "Taking forward a partnership anchored in trust, shared values and strategic convergence. PM @narendramodi warmly received Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi of Japan at the Hyderabad House today."

Earlier in the day, Jaiswal had posted: "Further strengthening our special partnership. PM @takaichi_sanae of Japan was accorded a ceremonial reception at the Forecourt of @rashtrapatibhvn. A partnership for the future, built on trust and rooted in shared values."

Takaichi is on a three-day official visit to India from July 1 to 3, marking her first trip to the country since taking office.

The visit is centred around the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit and is aimed at further strengthening the two countries' Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

During their talks, Modi and Takaichi are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including trade and investment, semiconductors, critical minerals, energy security, defence cooperation, artificial intelligence, resilient supply chains, and Indo-Pacific security.

The two sides are also expected to sign an LNG supply security agreement along with several other bilateral pacts during the visit.
