6 feared dead as massive blaze engulfs Haldia Petrochemicals; lightning suspected as possible cause

Haldia/IBNS: Six people are feared dead in a massive fire that broke out at Haldia Petrochemicals pipeline in Haldia, West Bengal on Tuesday.

At least 35 people sustained burn injuries, the petrochemicals issued an official statement.

Lightning is suspected as possible cause

Eyewitnesses said six people are feared dead, although there has been no official confirmation so far.

The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, while several critically injured victims are being referred to Kolkata for advanced medical care.

A total of 12 fire tenders have been deployed to the site, and firefighters are battling the blaze to bring the fire under control.
