Just a week after India became world champions, Zimbabwe sprung a surprise when it defeated the visitors by 13 runs in the first match of the T20 series in Harare on Saturday.

After posting a battling 115 runs for the loss of nine wickets, Zimbabwean bowlers crafted the magic and shocked the Indian cricketing fans by bowling them out for 102 runs.

India, playing with most of its champion players rested, has sent a younger side under the leadership of Shubman Gill to take on Sikandar Raza's squad.

Gill remained the top scorer for India with 31.

All-rounder Washington Sundar contributed 27 runs.

Zimbabwe's Tendai Chatara (3/16) and skipper Sikandar Raza (3/25) wreaked havoc and destroyed the Indian batting lineup which struggled in front of the African side's attack.

Earlier in the day, Zimbabwe's own batting ordeal saw them struggle to 115 runs.

Stifled by Ravi Bishnoi's (4/13) devastating four-wicket haul, Zimbabwean batsmen did not put up a promising performance.

Despite promising starts from Wessly Madhevere (21 off 22) and Dion Myers (23 off 22), Zimbabwe faltered, unable to capitalize on their partnerships.
