Harry Kane's late double saves England as DR Congo's World Cup dream ends
Atlanta/IBNS: Harry Kane starred with a match-winning brace as England came from behind to defeat DR Congo 2-1 at Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday, securing a place in the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
DR Congo stunned England with an early goal from Brian Cipenga in the seventh minute and held the lead for much of the match, with goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi producing a string of impressive saves to frustrate the Three Lions.

England finally found the breakthrough in the 75th minute when captain Harry Kane headed home from Anthony Gordon's cross to level the scores.
Kane then completed the comeback in the 86th minute with a powerful long-range strike, sealing England's victory and setting up a Round of 16 clash against Mexico.
Reacting to the win, Kane posted on X: "This is what it means. Got the job done. See you in Mexico."
