'Sack Gambhir' trends as South Africa leave India in turmoil in Guwahati

Guwahati/IBNS: India’s struggles in the Test arena continued in Guwahati on Monday, with South Africa putting the hosts on the brink of another defeat on Day 3 of the second Test.

After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 58 earlier in the morning, India’s middle order crumbled once again, with South African bowlers dismantling the batting line-up and leaving the team reeling.

While Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav are holding on to delay a collapse, the visitors remain firmly in control, buoyed by their imposing first-innings total of 489.

Meanwhile, social media erupted through the day, with ‘Sack Gambhir’ trending as fans vented frustration at India’s performances under head coach Gautam Gambhir.

A loss or draw in Guwahati will further extend India’s disappointing Test run since Gambhir took charge.

Before the ongoing series, India suffered defeats against Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia, and managed only a draw against England.
