Novak Djokovic defeats Carlos Alcaraz in thrilling final to win Olympic gold

Serbian Tennis icon Novak Djokovic finally ended his long wait for an Olympic gold medal when he defeated Carlos Alcaraz in a thrilling final on Sunday.

A dominant name in the world of Tennis, Djokovic has swept a record 24 majors in the game and it was only the golden medal that was missing from his spectacular cap full of feathers.

Making his first Olympic debut in 2008, Djokovic finally reached the high point of his sporting journey during his fifth outing.

On his way to bagging the title that had eluded him for years, Djokovic defeated his powerful opponent by 7-6(3) 7-6(2) margin in the Court Philippe Chatrier.

The Serbian put up one of the memorable shows of his career in front of a packed crowd to defeat Carlos Alcaraz.

Carlos Alcaraz was one of the frontrunners in winning the medal after he displayed a winning run in the French Open and Wimbledon this year,

Carlos Alcaraz settled for silver.
