Faf du Plessis smashed 50 runs, and Mitchell Starc picked up five wickets, which helped Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets in their Indian Premier League clash on Sunday.

After bowling out the Sunrisers for 163 runs, Delhi batsmen, led by Faf, played sensibly to reach the winning target of 166 runs for the loss of three wickets.

Despite facing a rocket start, the Sunrisers tried to stabilise the innings, banking on star Australian opener Travis Head (22).

However, fellow Australian teammate Starc cut short his innings by picking up his wicket in the fifth over, leaving the Sunrisers struggling at 4-37.

Aniket Verma (74) and Heinrich Klaasen (32) remained the only positive point in the disappointing show.

They helped the scorecard reach a competitive total at the end.

In his 41-ball knock,. Sharma hammered five boundaries and six sixes to remain the top scorer for the squad.

Apart from Starc, Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav scalped three Sunrisers wickets.

Chasing a target of 164 runs for victory,  Faf du Plessis  (50), Jake Fraser-McGurk (38) and Abishek Porel  (34*) reached the winning target of 166 runs.

Zeeshan Ansari picked up three wickets for the Sunrisers.

Faf hit three boundaries and three sixes in his match-winning innings.
