India manage a draw in 4th Test, Aus win series

With Australia declaring at 251 for six, India needed to bat out for the day to save the match.

India  performed the function properly with  Ajinkya Rahane (38*) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (20*) fighting out the day and saving the match for the home side.

Murali Vijay (80), Virat Kohli (46), and Rohit Sharma  (39)  contributed with their willows. Australia's chance to bounce back in the game increased after Kohli ,Suresh Raina (0) and Wriddhiman Saha  (0) departing fast.

Kumar and Rahane, however, batted the rest of the of the day to settle for a draw.

Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon and  Josh Hazlewood all took two wickets each for Australia.

After losing the first two matches, India managed to draw the last two Test but lost the series 2-0.

With Australia declaring at 251 for six, India needed 349 runs to win the Test.

After the end of the match, India skipper Kohli said he was proud of the way India kept fighting throughout the series.

“It was a feeling where you know you have actually forced the opposition to earn their victory if they are that good for five days,” Virat was quoted as saying by .bcci.tv.

“You are not just throwing in the towel and getting beaten in four days. We took them to the end on three occasions, two were draws and one was a loss that could have gone either way. I’m really, really proud of the way the guys have played in this series,” he said.
