London, June 9 (IBNS): India beat Australia by 36 runs to win their second world cup match in a row at The Oval here on Sunday evening.

Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first.

Openers Rohit Sharma (57) and Shikhar (117) gave India the ideal start and the rest of the team contributed well to set up a mammoth total of 352 losing five wickets.

Captain Kohli made 82.

After Australian captain Finch was run out for 36, Warner (56) and Smith (69) looked to consolidate. But with the asking rate climbing higher with every passing over, the competition ended up one-sided.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Bumrah picked up three wickets each.

At the end of 50 overs, Australia were all out for 316.

India have now won both the matches they have played so far in the world cup.
