Zurich, Jan 30 (IBNS): The Official Match Ball for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017 was revealed to the public on Friday, Jan 27, 2017, on a beach in the host city of Nassau, an official release stated.

During the official launch ceremony on Arawak Cay Beach on Friday, the Adidas Praia ball was presented in unique fashion, showcasing the local culture and beauty of The Bahamas.

A traditional Bahamian scull boat brought the ball to shore as a local band played Bahamian music using traditional instruments.

“We know that this Official Match Ball reveal will heighten anticipation as the clock counts down to April 27. It is a beautiful ball and fans can expect to see it flying through the air with some spectacular tricks. This launch today also gives the millions of fans around the world a little taste of the beauty and culture of The Bahamas that they can expect if they join us for this exciting event,” said President of the Bahamas Football Association Anton Sealy.

Prime Minister of The Bahamas Rt. Hon. Perry Christie was on hand to receive the Official Match Ball from Bahamas player Lesley St Fleur.

He said he was honored to receive it on behalf of the Bahamian people and pledged that The Bahamas would put on a world-class tournament.

“We have an opportunity for the whole world to look at us and we will rise to the occasion to not only provide the best facility, but also the best organization to make the games that will take place in The Bahamas as successful as they can be,” Prime Minister Christie said.

Bahamas team player Kyle Williams and team captain Gavin Christie were also on hand to test out the Official Match Ball.

“It was a beautiful ceremony, it’s a beautiful ball and we can’t wait to kick it around. We’re even more excited now and the unveiling of the ball makes it feel real. We’re ready to go,” Christie said.

The Adidas Praia stands out with a vibrant blue colour, like that of the turquoise oceans of The Bahamas.

The specifically engineered low-weight, low- pressure, blue beach soccer ball contrasts in colour from the beautiful white Bahamian sand enhancing the display of the acrobatic skills typical to beach soccer.

With just 90 days to go until the new ball rolls across Bahamian sand in the kick-off match, excitement around the tournament continues to grow.

The event takes place April 27 – May 7.
