Kolkata/IBNS: The Osiana Orient Champion held at the Philippines marked the victory of Asad Asif Khan against Malaysian Aiman Abu Bakar on Saturday.

Various nations represent the Osiana Orient Champion. Asad’s (8-2-1) incredible performance on December 21, at Manila, Philippines, showcased his intensive level of training. His opponent Aiman Abu Bakar (9-0-0), Malaysia’s No.1 boxer and an undefeated international player, was beaten by Asad in an all-win match from the start. Asad completely dominated the event during all eight rounds for a fascinating one-sided win.

Asad Asif is a licensed professional boxer under IBC (Indian boxing council), the only internationally recognized Indian Professional Boxing Commission. Brigadier Muralidharan Raja is the current president of IBC and ex-General Secretary of the Boxing Federation of India. Mr. Raja said that he was proud of Asif’s achievement and it will motivate upcoming boxers.

Hailing from Kolkata, Asad has been trained by Mujtaba Kamal. Kamal himself managed his fights as a manager right from the professional debut of Asad, which was on 19-11-2011.

Being an international boxer, Kamal recognized the passion of Asad. With intensive morning and evening training shifts, coupled with late-night solo sessions, the duo has been aiming for high feats together.

Kamal wanted to explore Asad’s talent as he saw in him the drive since the very beginning, when Asad and Kamal were coached by SK Meharaj Uddin (Chena) at KSOPC Club.

With the last straight 6-wins, this was their first international match, where Asad beat his opponent head-on.

Right now, Asad trains at Bangalore, where he also trains boxers and other fitness members. Their journey has been a great one, which has made them see the light of this victorious day.

Coach Mujtaba Kamal, while expressing gratitude and support speaks with elation about this victory, “Thank you for all the love and support to our backers and a big congratulations to Asad on beating Malaysia’s No. 1 boxer who has had an incredible record of 9 Wins-0 Losses, this day is special to both of us, and words cannot describe the elation I feel right now.”

Asad himself has been full of excitement and says, “I will always say hard work is the key to achieving anything in life, all you need is a great mentor, and I was blessed with one. This victory humbles me to work harder and ask the youth of India to take up the most inspiring sport out there.”
