Riding on promising opener Abhishek Sharma's gritty 135 runs and Mohammed Shami's sensation bowling, India beat England by 150 runs in the fifth match to win the T20 series by a 4-1 margin in Mumbai on Sunday.

Sharma, opening the batting with Sanju Samson (16), took charge and hammered 13 sixes and seven boundaries in his quick-fire 54-ball knock, guiding India to a massive 247 for the loss of nine wickets.

His knock also made him the fastest-ever T20I century by an Indian batsman. He reached the milestone by 37 runs.

He surpassed Shubman Gill’s previous T20I record of 126 not out.

Despite losing wickets, Indian batsmen kept the innings rolling with Shibam Dube contributing 30 runs to remain the second highest scorer in the innings.

Tilak Varma added 24 runs from 15 balls.

In response, England were bowled out for 90 runs.

The bright spot in the innings was Mohammed Shami remarkable performance ahead of the Champions Trophy.

He picked up three wickets to give England a scary outing on the Wankhede pitch.

Phil Salt  remained the top scorer for England with 55 runs.

This was India's second-largest win in T20I history.

Varun Chakravarthy, Shivam Dube and Abhishek Sharma picked up two wickets each.
