US condemns militant attack in Punjab

Washington, Jan 3 (IBNS): The US has condemned the militant attack on an air force base in Punjab on Saturday.

"The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack on an air force base in the Indian state of Punjab on January 2. We extend our condolences to the victims and their families," US state spokesman John Kirby said in a statement.

He said India will continue its partnership with the US  to combat terrorism," he said.

"The United States is committed to our strong partnership with the Indian government to combat terrorism.

Ending a day full of tensions, security forces neutralized terrorists who had attacked Pathankot air force of India in Punjab on Saturday, which claimed the lives of three IAF men.

The attack occurred days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Pakistan and met his counterpart Nawaz Sharif.
