Tarun Gogoi meets Pranab Mukherjee

Guwahati, Dec 17 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday called on President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhawan and discussed with him on a wide ranging issues including appointment of a full time Governor to the State.
Drawing the President’s attention, Gogoi requested him to take steps for the appointment of a regular Governor in the State without any delay.
 
The Assam CM apprised the President of several demands that the State has been requesting for including the withdrawal of Special Category Status, suspension of NEIIPP and the like.
 
Gogoi also requested the President for his consent for conferring the coveted Srimanta Shankardev Award in New Delhi to which the President responded positively.
 
However, the date for conferring the Award will be announced later on.
