Sonia, Rahul mourn loss of lives in Andhra Pradesh train mishap

New Delhi, Aug 24 (IBNS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Monday mourned the loss of lives in Andhra Pradesh where five people died as a truck rammed into Bangalore-Nanded Express at Anantapur district in the state.

The Congress tweeted: "Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi has expressed shock and anguish over the Bangalore-Nanded Express train tragedy."

"Extending her condolences to the families of the deceased, Smt Gandhi hoped that adequate relief and rescue work was being undertaken," the party said.

"Smt Gandhi also sent her deep condolences to the family of Congress MLA Shri Venkatesh Naik, who was also killed in the tragedy," the Congress said.

Condoling the loss of lives in the mishap, Rahul Gandhi's office tweeted: "Very sad to hear about the tragic accident of the Bangalore-Nanded express. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims.My condolences also to the family of Congress MLA Shri Venkatesh Nayak who lost his life in this accident."

At least five people, including a Congress legislator, were killed when a truck rammed into Bangalore-Nanded Express at Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
