The Indian Naval Sail Training Ship INS Sudarshini sailed into New York Harbor on July 4 to represent India at the United States International Naval Review 250 and Sail4th 250 celebrations.

During the spectacular Parade of Sail along the Hudson River, the iconic three-masted barque proudly flew the Indian Tricolour, showcasing India's rich maritime heritage and centuries-old seafaring traditions.

"During the spectacular Parade of Sail along the Hudson River, the iconic three-masted barque proudly flew the Indian Tricolour, celebrating India's rich maritime heritage and centuries-old seafaring traditions," a government statement said.

The visit forms part of Lokayan 2026, INS Sudarshini's 10-month transoceanic expedition, which underscores the Indian Navy's commitment to strengthening maritime cooperation, fostering international goodwill, and enhancing engagement with partner navies across the globe.

After successfully participating in the SAIL 250 events in Norfolk and Baltimore, INS Sudarshini is now berthed in Brooklyn for the Sail4th 250 celebrations, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence.

Against the backdrop of New York City's iconic skyline, the sailing vessel stands as a proud symbol of India's maritime legacy and naval traditions.

The port call marks more than just a trans-Atlantic voyage. It reflects the enduring friendship, mutual respect, and growing maritime partnership between India and the United States.

From the waters of the Atlantic Ocean to the historic harbor of New York, INS Sudarshini continues to carry forward India's seafaring traditions while strengthening maritime ties and promoting friendship, cooperation, and shared values across the world's oceans.
