SC to hear Rahul's petition against RSS defamation suit

| | Jul 08, 2015, at 05:07 pm
New Delhi, Jul 8 (IBNS) The Supreme Court will on Wednesday hear Congress Vice president Rahul Gandhi's appeal to quash a defamation case against him for allegedly blaming Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) for Mahatma Gandhi's assassination.

While addressing a public rally at Sonale in Bhiwandi in March 2014, Rahul had alleged it was "RSS people" who had killed Mahatma Gandhi.

"RSS people killed Gandhiji and today their people (BJP) talk of him...They opposed Sardar Patel and Gandhiji," he had said.
RSS had later filed a complaint against Rahul in Bhiwandi court over the remarks.

The court will also hear proceedings of two defamation cases filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Kejriwal had been summoned as an accused by the court in the defamation complaint filed by union minister and BJP leader Nitin Gadkari who alleged that Kejriwal had included his name in the party's list of 'India's most corrupt'.
