RPF/ N. F. Railway recovered ganja worth Rs. 8.94 lakh from trains and stations
Guwahati: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recovered various contraband items during regular checks and drives conducted at various stations and trains over N. F. Railway.
RPF personnel of N. F. Railway recovered 89.45 kgs ganja worth about Rs. 8.94 lakh during this month from Oct 1 to 13.
In an incident October 13, RPF team of Dimapur while checking at Dimapur station premises, recovered one unclaimed bag containing 01 packet ganja weighing about 5.7 kgs at platform No. 2. Later, the recovered ganja worth about Rs. 57 thousand was handed over to Customs Department, Dimapur for disposal.
In another incident on October 12, RPF team of Dharmanagar Post, while checking in train No. 05663 DN (Agartala - Silchar) special at Dharamanagar railway station, recovered one unclaimed bag inside a coach. On checking the bag, 3 packets ganja weighing about 12 kgs and worth about Rs.1.20 lakh were found. Later, the recovered ganja was handed over to OC/GRP/Dharmanagar for further course of action.
On that day, RPF team of Dimapur, while conducting check at Dimapur station premises, recovered one unclaimed bag containing 01 packet ganja at platform No. 2. Later, the recovered ganja weighing about 5 kgs and worth about Rs. 50 thousand was handed over to Customs Department, Dimapur for disposal.
Earlier also on October 11, RPF team of RPF Post, Agartala, while escorting the train No. 02501 DN (Tejas Rajdhani Special) from Agartala to Badarpur station, detected 02 unclaimed backpacks containing 15 packets ganja, weighing about 11.3 kgs in coach No. B-7. The recovered ganja packets were detrained at Badarpur and later, the same was handed over to OC/GRP/Badarpur for disposal. Value of the recovered ganja is Rs 1.13 lakh (approx).
Moreover, RPF of N. F. Railway recovered 55.45 kgs ganja worth about Rs. 5.54 lakh in different drives against transportation of contraband goods at different stations and trains over N. F. Railway during Oct 1 to 9, 2021.
It may be mentioned that RPF of N. F. Railway recovered narcotics (ganja, heroin, brown sugar) worth Rs. 42,39,400/- during the month of September, 2021.
