PM Modi congratulates David Cameron on victory in British General Election
New Delhi, May 8 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday congratulated British Prime Minister David Cameron on the victory of his Conservative Party in British General Election.
"Congratulations David Cameron. As you rightly pointed out- its 'Phir Ek Baar, Cameron Sarkar!' My best wishes," the Indian Prime Minister said.
British Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservative Party registered a solid victory in the general election winning an overall majority in Parliament.
The opposition Labour Party, led by Ed Miliband had put up a show and it was nearly wiped out in Scotland by the Scottish National Party.
Miliband said he would stand down on Friday, saying his party needs a new leader.
Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has also said he will quit.
The United Kingdom went to polls on Thursday in what was being described as one of the toughest elections in decades.
The Parliament has 650 seats where the Conservatives made gains in England and Wales and are forecast by the BBC to secure 331 seats in the Commons, giving them a slender majority.
