Pledges made by PM Narendra Modi during election campaign were nothing more than hawa baazi: Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, Sept 8 (IBNS): Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the promises that he had made before the 2014 Lok Sabha polls were nothing more than 'hawa baazi' (empty talks).

"Painfully clear that most of pledges made by PM during election campaign were nothing more than 'hawa baazi' (empty talks)," Sonia Gandhi made the remarks at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting.

"Prime Minister has been reduced to unedifying flip-flops creating confusion on what he really stands for," she said.

Attacking the government on the policy on Pakistan, Sonia Gandhi said: "The security situation in our neighbourhood has deteriorated considerably..Our jawans and civilians are being increasingly targeted..Instead of a coherent policy on Pakistan , this government can’t seem to make up its mind on what it should do."

Meanwhile, Sonia Gandhi's tenure has been extended for another year, reports said.

The CWC has  passed a resolution in connection with the matter.
