New Delhi. Jan 3 (IBNS) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said a NSG commander has been killed while fighting terrorists at Indian Air Force base in Punjab's Pathankot area.
"Pained to know about the demise of Lt. Col. Niranjan of NSG during mopping out operations at Pathankot. The nation salutes his sacrifice," Singh tweeted.

The death toll of the security personnel in the terror attack on the Indian Air Force (IAF) frontier base near Pathankot town in Punjab on Saturday rose to seven, media reports said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, another jawan has been reportedly injured in a fresh blast at the base.

Four security personnel who were injured in Saturday's terror attack have died in hospital, taking the number of casualties to seven.

The terrorist attack on the air force base in Punjab's Pathankot district, believed to be carried out by Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed that seeks independence for Kashmir, earlier left three IAF men killed.

As the search operation is currently underway in the base on Sunday, security personnel have recovered bodies of all four terrorists, who were killed after a day-long gun-battle on Saturday, along with their weapons like AK 47s, mortars, grenade launchers and GPS (Global Positioning System) devices.
