Meat ban in Mira Bhayander area of Maharashtra during Jain fasting period
Mumbai, Sept 7 (IBNS) The Bharatiya Janata Party-controlled Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra has imposed an eight-day ban on meat sales in Mira Road and Bhayander areas in the northern suburbs of Mumbai during the Jain fasting period, reports said.
The decision comes after the BJP won a vote to ban meat sales and animal slaughter during the fasting period.
The BJP got 29 votes in favour of the ban.
A meeting will be held on Monday to work out the modalities of implementing the ban.
