Pingla, West Bengal, May 7 (IBNS) Amid anger in the village over an accidental blast in an illegal bomb making factory in West Bengal's Pingla killing 11 people on Thursday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered a CID probe into the incident.

"We have ordered a CID inquiry into the tragic incident at a firecracker factory in West Midnapore," tweeted Banerjee through her party Twitter handle.

A massive explosion in a firecracker factory at Pingla in the West Midnapore district on Thursday left at least 11 people dead, with local alleging that it was used for illegal bomb making for political violence by a ruling Trinamool Congress member.

Seven others were injured in the incident.

According to reports, more than 30 people were present at the venue when the blast took place.

The police have arrested an owner of the factory  Ranjan Maity. Locals alleged that Ranjan is a Trinamool Congress leader. They also said that the unit was used to make bombs.

"Ranjan Maity is a TMC leader," a local resident of the area said.

"He is a mafia don," he said.

Another factory owner Ram Maity and his wife have reportedly been killed in the blast.

A team of forensic experts has reached the site of the explosion.
