IPL betting: Raj Kundra, Meiyappan banned for life, CSK, RR suspended for 2 yrs
New Delhi, July 14 (IBNS) Delivering the Indian Premier League (IPL) betting verdict, the Justice Lodha panel appointed by the Supreme Court on Tuesday banned Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of N. Srinivasan, and Rajasthan Royal owner Raj Kundra for life from attending all matches for indulging in betting and bringing disrepute to the game.
They were also banned for five years to participate in cricket as the panel said they placed bets and had brought disrepute to IPL.
Sanctions were also imposed on Rajasthan Royals as it was suspended for two years too.
Raj Kundra was declared ineligible to participate in cricket for 5 years while the panel said Raj Kundra had been placing bets through known punters and they brought disrepute to game.
Meiyappan's passion for the game is questionable, said the Justice Lodha panel on IPL betting.
Chennai Super Kings, the IPL team of India Cements led by N Srinivasan, was also suspended for two years from IPL.
Sanctions were also imposed on Rajasthan Royals as it was suspended for two years too.
