Govt. officials keep Noida house sealed for 24 hours with woman and baby inside

Noida, Aug 24 (IBNS) In an act of gross negligence that could have gone worse with a woman and her six-month-old child, Uttar Pradesh labour department officials have mistakenly sealed a house confining the two inside for 24 hours, reports said.

The officials  sealed the house in a bid to recover Rs 1.5 lakh from a Noida resident, whose wife and child were inside.

The officials later came back and let the woman and child out.

The officers claimed that they were unaware that the woman and child were inside the house.

According to reports, Dinesh Bharadwaj lives with his family lives in Ohio, USA and visits his Noida home only occasionally. His wife Emilia Bharadwaj and her son Ishant were at home when officials of the revenue collection department from Dadri sealed the house door on Friday.

A report in Times of India states that Dinesh claims to have been falsely implicated in a labour dispute dating back to March 2014 when he had given a labourer Rs 5,000 for painting his house as advance payment but the labourer never showed again.

Dinesh said that he along with his family had then left for America, but on their arrival later in the year, they received a notice from the district's labour department informing that some labourers have filed a case against him for employing seven workers between March 26 and August 28 and that their payments of a total of Rs 83,000 were due.

Officials claim that recovering the money is a legal procedure and he needs to pay the outstanding dues of Rs 1.67 lakh.
