Assam's Tarun Gogoi govt in trouble, 9 Cong MLAs meet Amit Shah

Guwahati, Sept 5 (IBNS) The Tarun Gogoi government in Assam faced a serious trouble after nine Congress MLAs met BJP's national president Amit Shah on Saturday deciding to join the saffron party.

The Congress MLA's -Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Pradan Baruah, Pallav Lochan Das, Rajen Borthakur, Binanda Saikia, Abu Taher Bepari, Bolin Chetia, Kripanath Mallah met Shah at his New Delhi residence on Saturday and expressed their  desire to join the party.

They are likely to switch over to the BJP next week.

AITC MLA Dwipen Pathak also met Amit Shah and desired to join the party.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, former Health and Education minister in the Tarun Gogoi government,  also met the BJP chief  with the nine Congress MLAs said that he will resign from the Assam assembly within two or three days.

"Not only the nine MLA's, another 10 Congress MLA's including a minister will join BJP shortly, "  Sarma said.

Congress has been in power in Assam from 2011 with 78 MLAs in the 126-strong Assam assembly.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Anjan Dutta said that the party will sack all nine MLAs who are going to join the BJP.
