After detection of COVID-19 positive cases Gauhati University cancels cultural night, suspends classes

Guwahati: The Gauhati University has cancelled the cultural night to be held on Dec 14 as part of the talent search competitions organized by the Postgraduate Students’ Union of the University after detection of COVID-19 cases amongst some of the students.

In a notification issued by the Registrar of Gauhati University said: “In view of screening being undertaken by the Government of Assam in last 7 days and consequent upon the detection of COVID-19 cases amongst some of the University hostel dwellers, it is notified for all concerned that as per the directives of the Vice Chancellor, Gauhati University, the cultural night on 14-12-2021 of the Talent Search Competitions being organized by the Post Graduate Students’ Union is hereby cancelled.”

“All hostels of the University will remain closed from December 15 to December 19 and all classes have been suspended from December 15 to December 19,” said in the notification issued on Monday.

The University authority has also prohibited entry of outsiders during the period.

However offices of the University will run with minimum functioning.
