ACB: Delhi HC rules in favour of AK govt

| | May 25, 2015, at 11:43 pm
New Delhi, May 25 (IBNS) In a significant decision the Delhi High Court on Monday said the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has the jurisdiction to arrest police personnel.

The court also said that branch should take orders from the Delhi government-led administration.

The court also denied bail to Delhi police head constable Anil Kumar .

Kumar was arrested in connection with a corruption case.

Welcoming the decision, Delhi CM and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal tweeted: "Congrats. Del HC strikes down centre's effort to weaken Delhi's ACB. Del HC- Centre has no jurisdiction to pass notification on ACB's powers."

"Today's HC judgement a huge embarassment for central govt. HC also said that the latest 21st May MHA notification is 'suspect'," he said.

The Delhi government is at present marked by huge tussle with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung over the appointments, postings and transfers of senior IAS officers.
