Won't allow water, fuel, humanitarian aid to Gaza till Hamas releases abducted people: Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz

| @indiablooms | Oct 12, 2023, at 10:22 pm

Jerusalem: Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz Thursday said his country would cut off basic resources or humanitarian aid into Gaza until Hamas sets free all the people it took hostage during its surprise attack on Israel last Saturday

"Humanitarian aid to Gaza? No electric switch will be turned on, no water tap will be opened and no fuel truck will enter until the Israeli abductees are returned home," he said in a statement.

At least 150 people, including Israelis, foreigners, and those with dual nationality, were abducted to the Gaza Strip by Hamas during the Saturday attack.

According to reports, more than 1,200 people were killed in Israeli towns and neighbouring areas.

Israel has implemented a "complete siege" on Gaza in the days following, severing access to water, fuel, and electricity.

Media reports said that the region's only power plant ceased operations on Wednesday as fuel supplies were exhausted.
