Seoul, Apr 20 (IBNS) More bodies were recovered on Sunday from inside the capsized South Korean ferry taking the death toll to 56, media reports said.

Meanwhile,  rescue divers rescued the bodies as they combed the sunken ferry.

"Rescue divers combed the sunken ferry Sewol off South Korea on Sunday after retrieving more than a dozen bodies from inside the underwater wreck for the first time since the sinking, as hopes fade for any survivors among hundreds of people remaining missing. A total of 16 bodies were recovered from inside the ship since Navy and Coast Guard divers pulled the first of them Saturday night, reinforcing fears that many of hundreds of people still unaccounted for are trapped inside the wreckage,"  Yonhap news agency said.

As many as 246 people are still waiting.

The ferry was capsized on Wednesday.
