New York, Jul 23 (IBNS): The United Nations Security Council has condemned in the strongest terms the recent terrorist attack in Suruc, Turkey, which killed at least 31 and injuring over 100 people.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in New York, the Council underlined the need to bring perpetrators of “these reprehensible acts of terrorism” to justice. The attack took place on 20 July.

The 15-member body also extended its condolences to the families of the victims and their sympathy to all those injured in this heinous attack, as well as to the people and the Government of Turkey who lost its citizens in this attack. The Council wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

Further to the statement, the members of the Council reaffirmed the need to combat by all means, in accordance with the UN Charter, threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed.

According to the media, an apparent suicide bombing occurred at the Amara Cultural Park in Suruc, a town bordering Syria.
