A Pakistani policeman was killed and four others were injured after unidentified armed assailants targeted two police stations in the Dhadar and Mal areas of Kachhi and Noshki districts on Friday, according to media reports.

Police officials told Dawn News that the attackers, who were riding motorcycles, launched an assault on the Dhadar police station using rockets and grenades.

“A heavy exchange of fire continued for over an hour, resulting in the killing of one attacker,” a senior police officer told the newspaper.

The officer also confirmed that a Balochistan Constabulary policeman lost his life in the attack, while three others sustained injuries.

The injured personnel and the deceased were shifted to the district hospital for treatment and further medical assistance.

During the attack, the assailants also set several vehicles parked outside the police station on fire before fleeing the scene.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while security in the area has been heightened following the assault.
