A woman, born in Bangladesh and allegedly trafficked to Pakistan 35 years ago, has approached the Lahore High Court seeking justice after being offloaded from a Dhaka-bound flight.

The woman, identified as 58-year-old Razia Bibi, filed a petition through her lawyer, Ali Changezi Sandhu, also requesting that a fine be imposed on the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for allegedly offloading her without reason.

According to the petition, Razia Bibi was kidnapped in Bangladesh and illegally brought to Pakistan, where she was reportedly sold in Karachi three and a half decades ago. She was later forced into marriage with her ‘purchaser’ and eventually moved to Kasur, reports Dawn News.

The petition also notes that Razia Bibi, now a Pakistani citizen, recently reconnected with her Bangladeshi family via social media. Her mother reportedly pleaded to meet her one last time.

On February 27, 2025, when Razia Bibi arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, to travel to Bangladesh, FIA immigration officials allegedly offloaded her from the flight without providing any explanation.

Her lawyer added that an application was filed with the Interior Ministry to take action against the “unlawful” conduct of the FIA staff, but no response has been received so far, according to Dawn News.
