Pakistani security forces arrested a 'possible' suicide bomber and left another injured during a crossfire on Barki Road in Lahore on Friday.

The arrested person was identified as Hafiz Shams.

He is stated to be a member of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

He is reportedly a member of Balochistan.

A senior police official told Dawn News that his accomplice, who got injured in the firing, fled the scene, taking advantage of the darkness.

He added that the CTD had raided a location on the Barki Road on the basis of the intelligence reports that some anti-social elements were planning a big terror attack in the city.

The CTD and other officials raided the city after getting information on their presence.

Gunfire ensued after the suspects opened fire on the security personnel.

One of the suspects was injured and fled from the scene during the gunfight.

A case has been registered

An investigation into the case is currently underway.
