Pakistan rail chaos as all train services from Quetta abruptly suspended

| @indiablooms | May 10, 2026, at 07:20 pm

Train services from the Quetta region to various parts of Pakistan have been suspended due to “unavoidable circumstances,” according to media reports on Sunday.

The disruption left the Jaffar Express, scheduled to depart for Peshawar, unable to leave Quetta. Meanwhile, an incoming Jaffar Express bound for Quetta was redirected back from Jacobabad, reported Dawn News.

Railway authorities told Dawn News that the Bolan Mail operating between Quetta and Karachi has also been suspended.

Train service between Quetta and Chaman has likewise been halted until further notice.

Rail services in Balochistan have faced repeated disruptions over the past two years due to frequent terrorist attacks targeting railway infrastructure and passenger services.

Last year, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacked a train in one of the region’s most alarming security incidents. In the same year, railwa services were also targeted in two separate attacks, raising serious concerns over passenger safety and the security of transport infrastructure in the restive province.
