Pakistan: Protest storm hits Balochistan Assembly after Quetta killing, Hazara deaths
Members from both the opposition and treasury benches in the Balochistan Assembly staged protests over the killing of a man in Quetta, media reports said.
Lawmakers also raised strong objections over the recent killing of two members of the Hazara community, calling for swift action.
According to Dawn News, legislators demanded that the chief minister constitute a committee to carry out an independent investigation and ensure the arrest of those responsible.
Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) MPA Agha Umar Ahmedzai took the floor at the start of the session, urging the formation of a probe committee into the alleged police killing of a youth from his constituency.
Opposition Leader Younas Aziz Zehri said the victim had travelled from Noshki to donate blood and was allegedly shot dead by the police’s Eagle Squad.
PPP MPA Abdul Samad Gorgaj also demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the killing of two vegetable vendors in the Akhtarabad area near the Western Bypass.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and Home Minister Ziaullah Langove took notice of the incidents and informed the House that investigations into the Sariab Road case were currently underway.
