Pakistan: Police arrest man charged with blasphemy

Pakistani police have arrested a man who was charged with blasphemy, media reports said on Wednesday.

He was charged with blasphemy on September 21  by the Saddar Police Station.

The man was arrested from Islamabad on Monday.

DPO Faisal Shahzad confirmed with Dawn that the suspect was arrested and shifted for interrogation.

A Pakistani court has sent him to police custody for nine days.

The first information report, registered on the complaint of an ASI, alleged that the man, a resident of Chak 107/12-L, was posting hate material against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on his Facebook account, reported Dawn News.
