Pakistan honour killing shock: Newlywed woman, 18, allegedly shot dead by brother
A newly married woman was allegedly shot dead by her brother in Pakistan’s Orangi Town in what police described as an apparent “honour”-related killing, media reports said.
Mominabad SHO Shahbaz Yusuf told Dawn that 18-year-old Zarqa Bibi had married of her own free will around three weeks ago and had been living with her husband.
According to the police official, Bibi’s family traced her and persuaded her to return to her parents’ home on the pretext of arranging a formal wedding ceremony.
The SHO said Zarqa returned home on Sunday night, where her brother allegedly shot her dead before fleeing the scene.
Her body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The suspect has been identified as Safeer Khan. Police are conducting efforts to trace and arrest him.
