Pakistan: Girls' primary school blown up in Lakki Marwat, no casualties
The building of a girls’ primary school in Pakistan's Lakki Marwat district was partially damaged in an explosion on Sunday, media reports said.
No casualty was reported in the incident.
District Police Officer (DPO) Nazeer Khan told Dawn News: “The incident took place late Saturday night when an explosion occurred at a girl’s primary school in the Wanda Zahid Gul area, situated within the jurisdiction of Daddiwala Police Station.”
He said that due to the explosion, carried out through an improvised explosive device (IED), the school’s building was partially damaged.
“Luckily, no casualties were reported,” the DPO said.
The DPO said two IEDs were planted in the school.
“One of the IEDs exploded, while the other one was discovered when the police reached the incident site and carried out an inspection,” he said. “It was successfully defused by the bomb disposal squad.”
A search operation is currently ongoing to nab those involved in the crime.
Lakki Marwat has been witnessing a rise in terror-related activities in recent years.
