Pakistan condemns US for bombing Iran a day after nominating Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

| @indiablooms | Jun 22, 2025, at 02:51 pm

A day after Islamabad nominated Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for his "decisive diplomatic intervention" during last month's India-Pakistan conflict, the foreign ministry of the country on Sunday condemned the US for bombing Iranian nuclear facilities.

In a statement, the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "We are gravely concerned at the possible further escalation of tensions in the region."

"The unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, owing to ongoing aggression against Iran, is deeply disturbing. Any further escalation of tensions will have severely damaging implications for the region and beyond," the statement said.

Donald Trump Recommended For Nobel Prize

Pakistan has recommended US President Donald Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize over his "role" during the India-Pak military conflict last month.

The Government of Pakistan has announced it on X.

"The Government of Pakistan has decided to formally recommend President Donald J. Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, in recognition of his decisive diplomatic intervention and pivotal leadership during the recent India-Pakistan crisis," the social media post reads.

This comes after Trump on Wednesday hosted Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir for lunch at the White House.

Munir's visit to the US came more than a month after India strongly retaliated against the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack where 26 tourists were killed.

The Indian Armed Forces carried out military action dubbed as Operation Sindoor and busted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan.

Though India outrightly rejected several times, Trump claimed he played a mediator in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.

US Bombs 3 Iranian Nuclear Sites

US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced bombing Iran's three nuclear sites and said with this operation, there would either be peace or more tragedy for Tehran.

The sites are Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.

He thanked Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as well as the Israeli army and said it was a teamwork.

In an address to the world and nation from the White House, President Trump said: "A short time ago, the US military carried out massive precision strikes on the three key nuclear facilities in the Iranian regime. Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. Everybody heard those names for years as they built this horribly destructive enterprise. Our objective was the destruction of Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world's number one state sponsor of terror.

"Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated. Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.

Iran-Israel Conflict

The conflict started a week ago when Israel launched airstrikes against Iranian nuclear and military sites, primarily targeting uranium enrichment facilities to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
