Pakistan bombs Kabul after Afghan forces strike border — tensions on the brink of war!

Kabul/Islamabad/IBNS: Pakistan bombed Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, hours after Afghan forces attacked Pakistani border troops on Thursday night, according to media reports.

The escalation comes after Afghan forces launched the attack, which the Taliban government described as retaliation for previous deadly airstrikes. Loud explosions were reported in Kabul earlier this morning during Pakistan’s counterattack.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that his country is capable of thwarting any "aggressive ambitions," adding, as quoted by The Guardian, "The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan armed forces."

The recent offensive follows a series of airstrikes carried out by the Pakistan Air Force inside Afghanistan earlier this week, marking one of Islamabad’s most significant cross-border military operations in years.

On Sunday, Pakistani jets targeted multiple locations in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, reportedly striking camps and hideouts of the Tehreek‑e‑Taliban Pakistan and Islamic State – Khorasan Province.

These airstrikes have significantly heightened tensions along the Durand Line. Afghan authorities issued formal protests, asserting that the strikes violated Afghan sovereignty.

In response, Afghan forces under the Taliban government reported heavy clashes across multiple sectors of the border and vowed further retaliatory action.
