North Korea launches unidentified projectiles off its Eastern coast: Reports

| @indiablooms | Jul 31, 2019, at 10:04 am

Moscow, Jul 31 (Sputnik/UNI) North Korea has fired multiple unidentified projectiles off its east coast early on Wednesday, local media reported with a reference to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The projectiles were fired from the Hodo peninsula of North Korea's South Hamgyong Province, the Yonhap agency said.

The JCS continues to monitor the situation for any additional launches and maintains a readiness posture, the report added.

The launches occur less than a week since North Korea fired two projectiles from an area close to its eastern coastal city of Wonsan last Thursday. North Korea’s state-run media reported that the launches were tests of a new tactical guided weapon and were observed by leader Kim Jong Un. The South Korea JCS subsequently identified the projectiles as two short-range missiles that flew around 267 miles at an altitude of 31 miles before falling into the Sea of Japan.
