Nigeria: Several killed in gas plant explosion

Nnewi , Dec 25 (IBNS): A blast at a gas plant in south-eastern Nigeria has left several people dead, media reports said on Friday.

The blast reportedly occurred when a truck exploded as it was off-loading butane cooking gas in Nnewi town.

Several people are reported to be trapped inside the  plant.

Injured people have been rushed to hospital for treatment.

"The fire burned beyond recognition all the workers who were inside that depot at that time and also all the customers inside that depot," Chukwuemerie Uduchukwu, who went to the scene, told the BBC.
